Nellie's Nest Cage-Free Eggs

I feel compelled to write to you how incredible you and your product are. I've been a vegetarian for 20 years, and enjoy eggs, but have really not eaten them due to the lack of humane treatment on most egg farms. I am so happy with the thought of "cage-free" but even more profoundly touched by your story/product. Not only is your reasoning touching, but your eggs are by far the best I have ever tasted, hands down. They are almost "creamy" (if that can be used to describe eggs! :)
I will not buy any other eggs now. If yours are not available at my store, I just don't buy eggs that week. And I don't care if they have a special on their eggs; you cannot put a price on humane treatment.

I love that the chickens that produce these eggs have a happy, and free life- I feel that not only does that make the eggs taste better, but it makes me feel good that I am supporting a company that has a concious.

I recall sitting inthe henhouse as a child and listening to the soft mutter of the hens -- my brother belonged to 4-H. I never thought the birds were really brilliant, but they had a kind of peaceful cachet. They deserve to be kindly treated -- I am now a loyal customer.

Recently I picked up a dozen of your eggs cpmlimentary at Vincent's Market, Westminster, Ma. I raised organic eggs up in Maine about 10 years ago and will buy only yours now. I practice humane treatment of all my animals; 2 barn cats,3 goats, 3 rabbits and 1 bantam hen. So, I know, a little more time involved but this is the RIGHT way to farm and live. Thank you so much.

I am so pleased to be able to purchase cage free New England-produced eggs. I remember so well the local egg farms in NH and MA that lined roads (such as, surprisingly, 101A in Amherst NH - now a stip mall haven) and could be found in almost all small towns. It was easy to 'stop by the farm' an pick up a dozen eggs and see the lovely hens that gave such precious gifts. The free range eggs, from a local farmer sold at our general store and the farmers market, are so popular that it is hard to get them - or get enough. I am thrilled to be able to buy your eggs AND to be able to recycle the packaging. Thank you so much for providing exactly what I love, and am committed, to buy - delicious food from humanely raised animals and a 'local' farm.

Factory farming stinks. Thanks for raising your hens in a way clearly shows you understand what having "dominion" over the animal kingdom REALLY means. Thankfully, my local store carries your eggs. We just need to spread the word.

Now that I am aware of how factory farmed eggs are produced I will never again, willingly, buy them. I am fortunate that Hannafords carries your eggs. I consider it a bonus that yours are the most affordable of the cage free selection. I am pleasd that as an added bonus they are produced right here in New England! I can now feel good knowing I am feeding my family better quality in a humane manner while supporting our local economy.

My husband and I started buying your eggs almost 2 years ago when we changed our diet and were looking for Omega 3 rich eggs. Your eggs have consistently been the best priced cage free on the market, and we love the packaging, too. My two year old son just likes the eggs and could probably eat them at every meal! I also think it's pretty cool to support someone from the same high school I went to (St. J Academy) Way to go, Jesse, what a great idea!

Always happy to pay whatever extra is needed to ensure that the hens have a decent life while producing the eggs. Thanks for infusing a little humaneness into the world.

I just wanted to send a heartfelt thanks to you for honoring these animals. All creatures have a divine right to be here and live a good life, free of having their beaks cut off, being crammed 16 to a cage, and even sustaining broken legs because a tube-fed diet of hormone laden feed made them grow too fast to support thier own weight. I've been on the PETA website and I still can't believe that humane treatment of animals is an option for farmers. But I guess that makes you at Nellie's shine even brighter in my eyes. You made a conscious choice to do the right thing and I am so very grateful that you did. Thank you!

BTW - I shop at Hannaford and chose your eggs for two reasons.....1) the packaging caught my eye (it speaks volumes), and 2) the story fit my values.
I won't buy any other eggs....period.

I have enjoyed my first dozen of Neelie eggs. I just wish that I could buy them in carboard boxes instead of the plastic. OR do you have a method by which I can return the boxes for re-use?

Thank you for supporting humane treatment of animals, I think factory farms should be abolished and I do everything in my power to not support their inhumane products.I was raised on a small farm and could identify with your feelings towards your animals.

Your eggs are the best ever..I just love them. I won't buy or eat anything but Nellies. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful color of the yolk and egg white as it cooked up perfectly. They even look pretty in the pan! Just yummy..thanks a million for such a tasty humane product, and heartwarming story!

I am so happy to have found your wonderful eggs. My parents raised chickens for our family during WWII, and I remember the incubator in the cellar with the chicks and the clucking of the roosting hens in the coop when I collected their eggs. Your treatment of your hens is to be commended. Too bad hens can't smile as I am sure yours would! I only wish I could buy your eggs in Florida, where my husband and I spend the winters. I have never been impressed enough by any product to make a comment. Many years ago I watched a documentary on how hens are raised, and there after I said "No more eggs". But we have 5 children and they love them and therefore buy them for their purpose. We have purchased many other brands of cage free eggs. We have visited their websites and read many articles (over the years) but were still not impressed by how these beautiful creatures are cared for. We came across Nellie's Eggs at a hanaford store in Maine, and were eager to try them. They are larger then other brands of grade A large eggs. And that got us to thinking that things are possibly done differently for your hens. Low and behold your website is printed on the inside of the carton, along with a short description of Nellie and what you offer your hens. We visited the website, and since your not far from our home, took a drive by your operation. We were totally amazed first hand at what we saw. How clean the property is and how free these hens really are. Needless to say, when we are out of eggs and need more, we look for Nellie's and honestly if the store is out we go to another to find these eggs. If we can't find them then we go without till the store receives more. And they taste amazing.

We hope very much that Nellie's will be around for a long time.

I haven't had eggs that tasted this good since my Aunt raised chickens in the '30's . It is great.

It feels so good to eat eggs from humanely treated chickens. Do you let them get sunshine? I will always buy your eggs and I pray you have great success and happiness.

We raise our own cage free chickens down home and find during our trips to Maine Nellie's eggs come closest to our own efforts. You don't raise small yolk eggs like the competition but an egg that stands up in the pan and looks at you. Great job, a touch of home away. Thanks

Just as I was coming to the conclusion that I either needed to give up eggs or get my own chickens, I discovered Nellie's. After doing a little research on your product and reading your website and customer comments, I'm comfortable supporting Nellie's--and for now, putting off adding chickens to my growing collection of animals! I just purchased my first carton of Nellie's Nest and I have to tell you, these are the most delicious eggs I've ever had. I am originally from Brooklyn, NY and knew nothing about eggs....how they were raised and how the are treated. After much reading and investigating, I knew I no longer wanted to buy "regular" supermarket eggs. Your price is pretty good too, the most inexpensive compared to other cage-free brands....if the price ever went up, I would still buy Nellie's Nest. I think that it is great that you believe in the humane treatment of your hens and I am so pleased to hear that they seem happy! Thank you for such a great product! I will be buying more!

I just finished reading The Ominvore's Dilemma after viewing footage revealing the treatment of laying hens on "agrifarms." I vowed to not eat any eggs but those humanely raised even if I had to drive to a farm here in NJ. Today I went to ShopRite and inspected all of the egg crates and was pleased to find your eggs. I studied your website and used your eggs to make something yummy for my kids. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

To Christine Grove from Mass. (6/2/06) regarding the plastic containers. These are extremely reusable. As an artist, I use them for paints, especially when traveling. They are particularly good for acrylics that dry and don't wash off. I now have my grandkids using them in the same way. Save them and bring them to schools or daycare to use, or simply recycle them in the plastic recyling bins.

Your eggs are the only ones I buy. I like the fact that, not only are they cage-free, but are reasonably priced as well!

It isn't like me to write about a product but I felt I needed to. About 7ish years ago I was travelling in Banff Canada and I remember how much i liked their eggs. The yolks had a lite color and they just tasted wonderful. Well now I can finally buy that same taste here locally. I love your eggs, the taste is the best on the market. I've been buying your eggs for awhile now-my mom thinks I'm crazy to pay almost $5 for a dozen eggs, but it's worth it to me to support humane treatment of animals. I'm currently reading "The Omnivore's Dilemma" and now appreciate more than ever, the lack of hormones and unnecessary antibiotics in your chickens. Some people consider the biblical phrase "dominion over the animal kingdom" to mean we can treat animals however we want-I'm glad to see that you share my alternative view of that idea.

I bought a dozen of your eggs the other day at my local food store. I already had a dozen of the other eggs I have been very loyal to in my fridge but your story warmed my heart. I also noticed that your eggs looked different - less uniform in color, and more natural. Well, I conducted my own taste test this morning and I could not belive the difference! Nellie's eggs are outstanding! The taste, the texture - unbelieveable! You have a new happy customer & I will surely spread the word :)

I have have been buying cage free eggs for the last seven years. That's when I was made aware of the deplorable conditions of some egg companies force on their chickens. I was first attracted to your carton design with the three chickens and the word, "Nellie's." Then I read the large letters that read, "Cage Free, Omega 3." Both concepts mean a great deal to me. It is encouraging to know that there is a company can thrive and also treat their hens in a humane way. Even in these tough times business can stay profitable when they treat living beings as they want to be treated; with respect and kindness.

I started buying your eggs when I saw the name Nellie's eggs because my mother had just died and her name was Nellie. I was startled when I saw the name, so I bought the first dozen in her honor.
I was delighted with the no cage, no hormone, etc and it reminded me of my grandfather who had no-cage chickens.
The eggs are delicious and I feel protected from the additives from some other eggs.
Its just one more way I can enjoy a healthy food without having to worry about dangers to my health.

These eggs have real taste and brought back memories of the goodness of eggs from my childhood. I recently saw the movie Food Inc. and was horrified by what was put into our food. The way our food was processed was discusting. I decided at that moment that me and my family were going to go organic. Your eggs were the first we tried and I have to tell you I will not by a differnt egg ever again!! The entire family was amazed of the taste of the eggs they were creamy and buttery. Thank you for raising cage-free human touched chickens.

In the sandlot baseball program that I run conditioning is very important. The 400mg of Omega 3 in your eggs makes them a recommended part of my players' training regimen. Add to that the ethical manner in which your hens are treated, the diet they are fed and the fact that your company represents all that is best in the feeding and treatment of those creatures who feed us and you have the whole package going for you. Need I mention that the eggs taste great too?

We just finished the most delecious breakfast with your Nellie"s Nest Free Eggs and they were fantastic. You can tell how fresh your product is by the way the cooked.
